We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Accountant to join our team in San Francisco, California. This is a contract to permanent position, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to financial strategy while supporting project management within a detail oriented services environment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced setting, balancing project accounting responsibilities with firm-wide financial planning and analysis.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as a financial advisor to studio leaders and project managers, providing insights and guidance on budgeting and forecasting
Collaborate with internal teams to support multidisciplinary project development and maintain open lines of communication
Oversee project accounting tasks, including budget creation, cost tracking, and financial health assessments
Review and ensure compliance of financial terms in customer and supplier contracts
Manage monthly billing cycles, client communications, and subcontractor invoice reconciliations
Prepare detailed financial reports on project performance and overall firm-level metrics
Conduct variance analyses to compare budgeted versus actual figures and assist in project closeouts
Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, optimize fee structures, and enhance operational efficiency
Mentor and support finance team members to strengthen their skills and abilities
Partner with IT teams to improve financial systems, such as Deltek Vision or Oracle, for better data accuracy and usability
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
A minimum of 5–7 years of experience in project accounting, FP&A, or finance within detail-oriented services
experience in the A/E/C industry is preferred
Proficiency in financial systems such as Deltek Vision or Oracle
experience with Oracle implementation is a plus
Advanced Excel skills, with familiarity in BI tools or dashboard platforms considered a bonus
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to meet deadlines effectively
Excellent leadership and communication abilities to engage with diverse stakeholders
Experience in international finance is highly desirable
Demonstrated ability to refine financial controls and optimize workflows for improved accuracy and efficiency
Nice to have:
Experience in the A/E/C industry
