Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to own the developer experience for PostgreSQL at Aiven. Your mission is to make building applications on Postgres not just reliable, but delightful — removing friction, accelerating time-to-value, and creating a developer journey that feels effortless from setup to scale. This is a high-impact role for someone who loves solving hard problems at the intersection of databases, developer platforms, and modern application building. You will define and own the roadmap, ensuring developer delight becomes a competitive advantage for Aiven’s Postgres offering.

Job Responsibility:

  • Make the complex simple: Translate advanced database features into intuitive, developer-friendly workflows and APIs
  • Own the roadmap: Define, prioritize, and drive the PostgreSQL developer experience roadmap end-to-end
  • Design golden paths: Create opinionated best practices (branching, migrations, schema management etc) that guide developers toward success quickly
  • Build integrations: Partner with IDEs, frameworks, and AI coding assistants to meet developers where they already work
  • Drive adoption: Ensure Postgres is the easiest choice for developers — the database that “just works” when building modern apps
  • Partner with sales & customer success: Support deals and enterprise adoption by aligning devex features with business needs
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with engineering, design, and GTM to turn complex technical capabilities into elegant, usable experiences
  • Measure success: Track developer activation, engagement, retention, and expansion as core KPIs

Requirements:

  • 5 to 7+ years in product management, ideally in databases, developer platforms, or cloud services
  • Proven ability to simplify complex technical features into intuitive developer experiences
  • Comfortable bringing clarity and prioritization in ambiguous, fast-changing environments
  • Strong understanding of PostgreSQL and/or relational databases, plus curiosity about extensions like pgvector, PostgREST, and Citus
  • Experience with developer workflows (CI/CD, branching, observability, AI tooling)
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • equally comfortable working with engineers, sales teams, and developer communities
  • Excellent communication and storytelling ability to align teams and inspire adoption
What we offer:
  • Participate in Aiven’s equity plan
  • Hybrid work policy
  • Get the equipment you need to set yourself up for success
  • Real employer support (use one of our learning platforms, annual learning budget, and more)
  • Get holistic wellbeing support through our global Employee Assistance Program
  • Professional massage at the office
  • Health and fitness benefits through Urban Sport Club membership
  • Monthly team breakfast
  • Referral bonus programme
