Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager – AI Strategy to act as a strategic partner to our CTO. This is not an entry-level role; it is a high-leverage position for a product leader who can decipher the noise of the AI revolution and pinpoint exactly where it drives revenue, efficiency, and competitive advantage for our platform.

Job Responsibility:

  • Own the 'AI Layer' of the platform, from abstract concept to deployed feature
  • Strategic Intelligence & Trend Evaluation: Actively monitor the evolving landscape of Generative AI, LLMs, and Machine Learning
  • Run rapid PoCs (Proof of Concepts) to test viability
  • Conduct rigorous analysis on whether to train our own models, fine-tune existing ones, or integrate third-party APIs
  • Own the decision-making framework regarding cost, latency, and data privacy
  • Revolutionizing the Core Value Proposition: Drive the development of AI agents that can automatically map complex fashion taxonomies
  • Build features that allow customers to generate SEO-optimized product descriptions and translate content into multiple languages instantly
  • Conceptualize 'Self-Healing' data pipelines where AI identifies and corrects listing errors
  • Execution, Delivery & Adoption: Work close together with Data Scientists and Backend Engineers
  • Translate business requirements into technical specs for model training and inference
  • Work closely with Growth Organisation and Marketing to package AI features, define pricing strategies, and ensure customer adoption
  • Performance & Optimization: Implement RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback) workflows
  • Monitor the 'Unit Economics of AI'
  • Ensure the cost of running models does not eat up margins, optimizing for token usage and processing efficiency

Requirements:

  • 5-8+ years of Product Management experience with a proven track record of managing technical products from conception to sunset
  • Hands-on experience shipping AI-driven products
  • Understanding of the difference between predictive and generative AI, and knowledge of the risks (hallucinations, bias) and how to mitigate them
  • Comfort presenting to the Board and C-Level
  • Ability to articulate a 12-month strategic roadmap and defend it with data, market research, and financial projections
  • Understanding that AI is expensive and a focus on ROI
  • Ability to thrive in the weeds of 'messy data'
  • Leadership without authority, acting as a mentor to junior PMs and a thought leader within the organization
What we offer:
  • Employee shares program
  • 40% off fashion and beauty products sold and shipped by Zalando, 30% off Lounge by Zalando, discounts from external partners
  • 2 paid volunteering days a year
  • Hybrid working model - work where it works for you within Germany or the UK, with occasional office attendance required
  • Work from abroad for up to 30 working days a year
  • 27 days of vacation a year to start for full-time employees
  • Relocation assistance available (subject to prior agreement)
  • Family services, including counseling and support
  • Health and wellbeing options (including Wellhub, formerly Gympass)
  • Mental health support and coaching available
  • Drive your development with our training offerings and biannual peer-to-peer review
