Patreon is looking for a Product Manager, Access & Identity to own the strategy and execution of our identity and access management capabilities. In this role, you'll lead critical initiatives across account integrity, fraud prevention, and regulatory compliance. You'll build defenses against account takeovers, ship self-resolution account recovery flows, and leverage AI-powered systems for authentication and identity verification to protect our community at scale. This person will also lead our Anti-Money Laundering and KYC/KYB efforts, which rely on accurate identity information for each of our creators. Your work will directly impact creator trust, reduce fraud loss, and ensure Patreon meets evolving regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibility:
Own the roadmap for Patreon's KYC (Know Your Customer) and KYB (Know Your Business) programs, ensuring we meet AML requirements and support tax reporting
Ship self-serve account recovery flows, new login alerts and other systems that empower users to protect themselves
Lead efforts to ensure user identity data and related PII are properly tagged and gated by appropriate data privacy controls, internally and externally
Improve detection and observability across auth, sessions, and sensitive actions (payouts, password changes)
Partner with Fraud Ops on better tooling and automated controls
Reduce ATO-related monetary loss through strategic deployment of step-up authentication, device fingerprinting, and risk-based friction
Define success metrics and KPIs—from ATO loss rates to authentication success rates—and use data to drive continuous improvement
Create clarity across Product, Engineering, Design, Legal and Ops by articulating decisions, tradeoffs, and rationale in simple, compelling narratives
Partner with GTM teams to understand fraud patterns and compliance needs, translating them into product improvements
Requirements:
6+ years of product management experience, with deep expertise in identity, access management, fraud prevention, or security
Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution
Experience building or integrating identity verification, fraud detection, KYC/AML systems, or authentication flows
Strong technical foundation with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and make informed technical tradeoffs
Comfort working with data science, ML-driven systems, and risk scoring models
Exceptional communication skills and ability to influence across product, engineering, design, legal, and compliance organizations
Ability to balance competing priorities: security vs. user experience, compliance requirements vs. product velocity, innovation vs. technical debt
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
