Job Description

The Senior Product Management Engineering Advisor role at NTT DATA involves leading the migration of legacy Mainframe applications to modern platforms. NTT DATA’s Application Modernization practice is the leading provider of rehosting and migrating of Legacy mainframe applications to the open platforms UNIX, Linux and Windows and the re-architecture of legacy applications.

Job Responsibility

Lead the migration of legacy Mainframe applications to modern platforms
Solutions and executes migration of Mainframe applications into software equivalent systems (rehosting)
Uses knowledge of Mainframe technologies to find the right solution to migrate off the Mainframe
Uses knowledge of Unikix or Microfocus software to solution Mainframe rehosting
Uses knowledge of Cloud technologies to rehost Mainframe systems to the Cloud
Uses knowledge of CLIST, REXX, PL/1, Easytrieve and Assembler to find right migration solution
Uses Linux scripting to implement migration glues
Proposes and implements DevOps solutions on the rehosted system
Expert ability to identify code patterns and understand coding strategies
Ability to propose, design and implement migration solutions
Expert knowledge of NTTDS tools and methodology
Ability to coach and mentor the transformation of applications, using modern technologies, frameworks, and test strategies
Demonstrated ability to lead projects or offer programming solutions at an advanced level
Advanced understanding of how technology decisions relate to business needs
Ability to architect and design modernized systems with new technologies
Ability to identify changes required in the NTTDS tools and methodology to meet a particular solution or customer need

Requirements

Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience
Expertise in Mainframe technologies like COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, Assembler, DB2, IMS
Knowledge of Unikix or Microfocus software for Mainframe rehosting
Knowledge of Cloud technologies to rehost Mainframe systems to the Cloud
Knowledge of CLIST, REXX, PL/1, Easytrieve and Assembler
Linux scripting to implement migration glues
Ability to propose and implement DevOps solutions on the rehosted system
Works well with clients, their stakeholders and end users
Experience in requirements solicitation
Able to differentiate between needs & wants
Experience in translating business requirements into technical requirements
Ability to work well within the team
Familiar with programming languages, and able to read some legacy code at a high-level to understand code rules
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or equivalent
Technical experience

Nice to have

Familiarity with the following experience in large software projects
Experience on Microfocus / Clerity(Unikix) environment in hosting large and complex Mainframe applications
Experience in Scheduler and Security migration
Experience with Assembler, PL/1 or Mainframe Infrastructure
