In this role, you will be responsible for manufacturing research and develop to solve complex problems that directly impact final product quality, cost and delivery of Microsoft’s cutting-edge hardware devices and accessories. Candidate will be a key member of the to drive product yield and quality improvement via in depth product performance requirements. In addition, this role requires detail management of business metrics within a product cycle specifically during mass production. This position will heavily interact with the contract manufacturers and design team on wide range of activities from designing and root cause analysis to the manufacturing engineering.
Job Responsibility:
Collaborate with contract manufacturer and peer groups across the organization
Manage and systematically reduce quality excursion in mass production of products
Provide engineering support and leadership at engineering builds
Work with contract manufacturing FA team to track production product problems and conduct fault isolation and failure analysis
Perform electrical technical analyses, recommend, prepare and execute designs-of-experiments, and characterize process and design interactions
Stay current and versed in emerging technologies, materials, methods and manufacturing processes
Generate best practices guidelines and documentation to enable efficiencies in future hardware development and sustaining activities
Drive clear and accurate communications and recommendations to peers and senior management
Liaise with product design team on DFT and provide input on design change as needed
Support products transfer, qualification and establish failure analysis, repair system at new contract manufacturing site
Master's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field AND 4+ years experience in a manufacturing environment /repair
OR Bachelor's Degree in manufacturing, material, mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering, or related field AND 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment/repair
OR 7+ years of equivalent experience
Demonstrated ability in product and statistical process control, MSA/GRR, part characterization, structured problem solving, root cause and defect/failure analysis, FMEA, DOE, FEA, reliability testing, core and advanced metrology, statistical data analysis
Proficiency with statistical analysis, including usage of tools such as JMP or Minitab
Fluent in both written and spoken English
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Nice to have:
8+ years as either a hardware engineer directly contributing to product development or high-volume manufacturing product or test engineer involving consumer electronics, electro-mechanical systems manufacturing, and integration
Direct involvement in NPI (New Product Introduction) and manufacturing operations experience
Candidate with design background
PowerShell and Python script development capabilities
