Job Description:

Join Handshake as a Senior Product Designer I to shape user experiences in the burgeoning AI economy, collaborating with top educational institutions and Fortune 500 companies. Handshake AI powers expert-labeled data collection at scale, matching domain experts with leading AI companies to train frontier models. We’re hiring a Senior Product Designer to operate at the front lines between our clients, operators, and product team, shaping the experiences that make this work possible. In this role, you’ll tackle design challenges as they arise, quickly diagnosing issues, stabilizing and improving existing features, and shipping pragmatic solutions that keep projects running smoothly for both customers and operators. Much of this work happens in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where speed, judgment, and strong product instincts matter.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the design process from concept to production for AI-driven solutions, working closely with clients and internal teams to address real user needs and iterate on feedback
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, and operations to work with leading AI labs—turning ambiguity into clear plans and rapidly designing solutions for emerging AI capabilities and real-world workflows
  • Work closely with customer and internal teams to understand their needs, uncover insights, and ensure solutions address real user problems
  • Own the end-to-end design process—from discovery and concept development through production-ready solutions and iteration based on real-world feedback
  • Design tailored, production-grade solutions for complex, high-impact customer needs, often with little precedent
  • Rapidly prototype and validate workflows, ship pragmatic solutions, and share learnings with internal teams so successful patterns can be incorporated into the core product
  • Deliver thoughtful visual and interaction design that balances usability, clarity, and scalability across both custom solutions and emerging platform capabilities
  • Clearly communicate design decisions, tradeoffs, and rationale, helping teams move quickly and make strong product decisions
  • Learn from shipped work—gathering feedback, analyzing outcomes, and iterating to improve the product over time

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of product design experience
  • Strong visual and interaction design skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in designing features that resonate with users, particularly in fast-paced environments
  • Experience partnering closely with product, engineering, data, and research to bring ideas from concept to production
  • Experience working closely with customers—translating real-world needs and feedback into thoughtful product solutions
  • Able to synthesize research, data, business goals, technical constraints, and customer needs into thoughtful solutions
  • Comfortable working in fast-moving environments, designing quickly and adapting as new information emerges
  • Strong visual and interaction design craft, with attention to detail across flows, states, and edge cases
  • You enjoy using design to bring clarity and simplicity to complex systems
  • You’re humble, collaborative, and curious—excited to keep learning and energized by working on a complex, evolving product

Nice to have:

Bonus if you have experience designing LLM or AI-powered products
