Job Description

The Senior Procurement Lead will have spend segment responsibility and ownership, reporting to a Procurement Manager/Director. The Specialist role will work with a wide variety of teams including the following: sales, engineering, marketing, technical, EH&S, plant operations, and supply chain. This alignment will ensure we have the right products, with the right vendors to support Valvoline's business objectives. The specific category this role supports is aligned to packaging materials. Valvoline uses a wide range of materials to package our lubricant products including both consumer facing and industrial. They will have overall ownership for the Procurement strategy, vendor selection, vendor approval and vendor performance. They will facilitate strategic sourcing through market and industry analysis, supplier segmentation and supplier research/analytics and build effective relationships with current and potential partners.

Job Responsibility

  • Be Valvoline's subject matter expert in the designated area of focus.
  • Develop sourcing strategies for each key material.
  • Vendor Risk Mitigation - Ensure vendors are appropriately chosen, managed and monitored.
  • Commercial Terms - Develop and execute a sourcing strategy and negotiate commercial terms.
  • Quality Service - Establish and measure quality standards.
  • Supplier Relationship Management - Use relationship management techniques to generate maximum long-term value.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5-7 years of related experience is required.
  • Related experience would include buying (either with or without packaging experience) OR time as a packaging engineer with a focus on procurement.
