Job Description

A large, high-growth North American retail organization with a significant physical footprint is building a new U.S.-based procurement function as part of a long-term, enterprise-wide Procure-to-Pay (P2P) transformation. This is a rare opportunity to help build procurement strategy and infrastructure from the ground up while managing complex, high-value indirect spend categories.This role will serve as a foundational hire within the U.S. procurement organization and offers high visibility, autonomy, and long-term growth potential—without immediate people management.

Job Responsibility

  • Build and execute category strategies across complex indirect spend areas
  • Negotiate and establish new supplier contracts, rates, and commercial terms
  • Analyze current spend, suppliers, and contracts to identify optimization opportunities
  • Implement policies, procedures, and sourcing frameworks
  • Partner with an external BPO supporting procurement systems and technology
  • Drive supplier rationalization, contract compliance, and performance management
  • Work cross-functionally with operations, facilities, finance, and leadership
  • Support change management tied to new tools, processes, and ways of working
  • Use modern procurement tools, data, and emerging technologies (including AI) to improve efficiency and insights

Requirements

  • 5+ years of procurement experience, with strong exposure to indirect spend
  • Demonstrated strength in contract negotiation and supplier management
  • Experience in retail, brick-and-mortar, facilities, property, or operations-heavy environments
  • Proven ability to operate independently and build structure where little exists
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, transformational environments
  • Self-starter with a high level of energy, curiosity, and ownership
