We are seeking an experienced systems engineer to support space payload design, development, and delivery activities for multiple programs. The selected candidate will work as part of a multi-project leadership team, which will be responsible for shaping the future of space remote sensing as we transition to new design concepts and technical refresh of existing designs.
Job Responsibility:
Support space payload design, development, and delivery activities for multiple programs
Work as part of a multi-project leadership team, which will be responsible for shaping the future of space remote sensing as we transition to new design concepts and technical refresh of existing designs
Work individually and as a team to develop space system design and architecture concepts, leading to system design
Application of space system engineering knowledge to influence remote sensing payload design
Derivation and allocation of system requirements (functional, performance, interfaces) for high-reliability remote sensing systems
Application of systems engineering concepts to plan, analyze, organize, and integrate system capabilities to achieve a mission need for remote sensing systems
Significant emphasis will be on integration across teams, requiring coordination with internal and external collaborators
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience
Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance
Nice to have:
Graduate degree in Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement
Experience working with Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE) laboratories and plants including Pantex, Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), Lawrence Livermore Laboratory (LLNL) and Kansas City National Security Campus/New Mexico Operations (KCNSC/NMO)
Experience working on engineering design, qualification, production, or related modeling/simulation projects
Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Experience with systems engineering principles such as requirements derivation, allocation, or management
verification planning or execution
and project leadership
Demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent system analysis to derive and allocate requirements
Skillset includes application of systems engineering to space systems or other high-reliability remote sensing systems, including activities across the full lifecycle
Demonstrated proficiency in independent task definition, problem solving, and reporting of results
Familiarity with remote sensing systems, primarily optical and radiofrequency (RF) systems
Experience with signal processing and signal detection for remote sensing applications
Experience with real-time data processing in high data rate systems
Experience within the aerospace industry, space systems, and associated complex design, production, and test processes
Experience with model-based systems engineering
Experience with rapid development, rapid prototyping and/or agile systems engineering processes
Active SCI clearance
