We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join the W76-1 Joint Test Assembly (JTA) Weapon System Team. In this role, you will contribute to the mechanical design, development, and qualification of the new instrumented JTA flight test body for the W76-1 weapon systems.
Job Responsibility:
Develop detailed understanding of customer requirements
Assemble and integrate mechanical system assemblies
Integrate and test subassemblies and system configurations
Plan and execute environmental, performance, and safety qualification tests
Analyze system-level test data and support anomaly resolution
Manage product definition and release documentation
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five years of directly relevant experience or equivalent combination
Active DOE Q Clearance or equivalent
Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or highly related field
Experience with mechanical engineering and product realization in the NNSA complex
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
Self-motivated and comfortable in fast-paced environment
Experience applying engineering principles to trade studies
Experience with JTA development programs and nuclear weapons lifecycle
Proficient in test instrumentation and planning
Familiarity with Sandia Mechanical test facilities
Knowledge of Sandia drawing and authorization systems
Skilled in CREO
Experience working with NNSA, DOD, LANL, KCNSC, Pantex
Nice to have:
Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
Experience with NNSA complex
Experience with JTA development programs
Experience with nuclear weapons lifecycle
Proficient in CREO
Experience with Sandia test facilities
