In Patient Support Systems (PSS), the sustaining engineering project team handles engineering product changes for released products to achieve company savings goals. You will be part of a cost savings group with project leaders and engineers aiming for annual savings. We develop solutions in a collaborative environment involving various support functions. We foresee changing project needs and address issues to avoid delays and disruptions for operations.
Job Responsibility:
Identify and solve complex technical problems using innovative, value‑engineered solutions that drive cost savings across the product portfolio
Lead engineering initiatives from feasibility through implementation, applying engineering tools to deliver validated solutions that meet customer and development requirements
Integrate business, market, industry, and competitive insights into adaptable technical solutions aligned with evolving technology and clinical needs
Manage project financials in collaboration with finance, including capital budgeting, cost control, and tracking of savings
Produce clear, high‑quality technical documentation and use established tools to track and report product, project, and process metrics
Proactively challenge established processes, take calculated risks, and generate alternative approaches to achieve performance objectives
Act as a technical mentor and role model, sharing knowledge, communicating impacts and risks, and supporting team delivery with minimal supervision
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
7+ years of experience
Proficient in CAD and the use of FEA tools
Stack up analysis experience
Ability to generate alternative solutions to problems or processes, with an emphasis on building for technical cost reductions
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
Strong organizational and communication skills
Nice to have:
Experience in the medical device industry is preferred
