Job Description

Shape the future of our cities and environments. Are you a Civil Water Engineer passionate about creating a more sustainable future? Ready to play a key role in some of the UK’s most exciting and innovative projects? Join us and help shape the future of our cities and environments. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Senior / Principal Civil Water Engineer to join our Design & Advanced Technology (D&AT) team. You’ll become part of a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team delivering innovative and high-profile projects for major Water sector clients and regional water authorities. As a key member of the team, you’ll contribute to transformational programmes supporting critical UK infrastructure, with opportunities to work on landmark engineering projects across the UK and internationally. We are committed to delivering industry-leading solutions throughout the full project lifecycle, providing value through both client-side and construction-phase support. Join a team where every voice is valued and where collaboration drives success. We foster an inclusive and diverse environment where talented individuals can thrive and develop without barriers. Collaboration is more than a principle for us — we recognise and value the unique perspectives and contributions of every individual. We understand that everyone has different priorities, which is why we support flexible ways of working and encourage a healthy balance between professional and personal commitments. This role offers hybrid working, with an expectation of 3 days per week office/site based. The position can be based in Bristol, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, or Epsom. Your role As a Principal Civil Water Engineer within the D&AT practice, responsibilities will include: • Coordinate and lead teams of Civil Water Engineers delivering technical design work on complex multi-disciplinary projects, applying relevant national and project-specific design standards across areas including hydraulics, wastewater and clean water infrastructure, water reuse, and pipelines. • Produce and review technical deliverables including design reports, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work within defined project requirements. • Provide technical input into Civil Water design deliverables on complex projects, while supporting the successful management of project timelines, budgets, and key milestones. • Collaborate closely with clients, operational teams, project stakeholders, and related engineering teams across the business. • Mentor and support junior colleagues, helping to strengthen and grow Civil Water Engineering capability within the team. • Work independently with minimal technical supervision, applying sound engineering judgement to solve complex challenges and guide less experienced team members. • Contribute technical expertise to bid and proposal submissions. • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated engineering solutions. • Maintain high quality assurance standards through the checking and review of both your own work and that of others.
