Job Description:

A major infrastructure contractor is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Project Engineer to support the development and mobilisation of complex water and wastewater projects. This role focuses on the critical pre-construction and design phases of project delivery, ensuring schemes are properly planned, technically coordinated and commercially positioned before construction begins.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure schemes are properly planned, technically coordinated and commercially positioned before construction begins
  • Work closely with pre-construction teams, designers, planners and procurement specialists to develop robust target costs, risk registers and delivery strategies
  • Ensure design solutions are aligned with programme and buildability requirements
  • Coordinate operational input during the early stages of project development
  • Work across multidisciplinary teams to ensure civil and MEICA design development supports an effective delivery strategy
  • Ensure projects are fully prepared before progressing to construction
  • Review and coordinate design deliverables produced by design partners
  • Ensure design deliverables comply with contractual, regulatory and technical requirements
  • Support procurement teams during tender stages by reviewing technical specifications
  • Respond to technical queries
  • Assist with the technical assessment of subcontractor submissions
  • Coordinate surveys, testing and site investigations required to support design development
  • Ensure the design is informed by site conditions
  • Ensure delivery planning is fully developed before mobilisation
  • Contribute to governance and approval processes
  • Ensure design information progresses efficiently through review stages
  • Act as a technical interface with the client where required
  • Assist with the resolution of technical queries
  • Maintain alignment between design development and project objectives
  • Support the transition from pre-construction into operational delivery
  • Ensure design information, procurement strategies and delivery planning are fully coordinated with site teams

Requirements:

  • HND, HNC or degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Strong MEICA engineering background
  • Demonstrable experience working on water or wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Solid understanding of the design and pre-construction stages of project delivery within the water sector
  • Proven experience supporting infrastructure projects through design development and pre-construction phases
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams
