Job Description:

Newcastle City Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Practitioner to join the Children in Care and Care Leavers Team. This role involves providing expert social work practice, supervision, and leadership to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people in care.

Job Responsibility:

Lead and manage complex cases, ensuring timely and effective interventions in line with statutory requirements
Provide supervision and support to social workers, promoting professional development and reflective practice
Conduct thorough assessments and develop comprehensive care plans that address the needs of children and young people
Work collaboratively with internal and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to service delivery
Ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed and that children and young people are protected from harm

Requirements:

Degree in Social Work or equivalent
Current registration with Social Work England
Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in children's social care
Significant experience in a senior practitioner role
Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, and Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
