Job Description:

Lead from Bristol as Assistant Practice Manager: mentor staff, drive growth, and run day‑to‑day client work with Directors. ACA/ACCA, 5+ years in UK practice. This is a hands-on leadership role supporting the Directors in all aspects of running a busy and growing practice.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting and mentoring the team
  • Managing workflow and deadlines across accounts, bookkeeping and tax
  • Reviewing and preparing statutory accounts
  • Overseeing bookkeeping and VAT returns
  • Supporting corporation tax and basic personal tax matters
  • Attending and leading client meetings
  • Handling client queries and advisory conversations
  • Supporting new business enquiries and proposals
  • Contributing to strategy and growth initiatives
  • Stepping in operationally when required

Requirements:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Minimum of 5 years’ recent experience within UK accountancy practice
  • Confident reviewing and preparing statutory accounts
  • Comfortable overseeing bookkeeping and VAT returns
  • Able to support corporation tax and basic personal tax matters
  • Experience supervising and developing a team
  • Commercially aware, with a solid understanding of WIP, billing and practice profitability
  • Confident in client-facing situations
