We’re looking for a Senior Positive Support Practitioner to join our team supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs. Working under the direction of the PBS & Recovery Lead, the postholder will provide advanced assessments, interventions, and mentoring, ensuring that individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs receive person-centred, evidence-based support.
Job Responsibility:
Act as a senior role model for positive, recovery-focused practice within services
Supervise and mentor Positive Support Practitioners, guiding their development and ensuring practice meets organisational standards
Lead reflective practice sessions and contribute to service improvement planning
Deputise for the PBS & Recovery Lead where required, providing continuity of leadership
Undertake assessments, observations, and behaviour reviews under supervision
Co-produce PBS Plans and Wellness Recovery Action Plans with individuals, families and staff teams
Assist in the development of interventions aimed to reduce the intensity, frequency and potential of challenging behaviours
Collect and report data on behaviour and recovery outcomes and assist with monitoring of interventions and contribute to reflective practice and service delivery
Provide day to day guidance to staff teams on the use of PBS and recovery strategies
Attend and contribute to service meetings, reviews and multidisciplinary forums as appropriate
Participate in professional development, PBS qualifications, networking events, supervisions, and appraisals
Uphold high standards of PBS, safeguarding standards, organisational policies, and professional codes of conduct
Requirements:
Level 5 in PBS and evidence of CPD in areas such as behaviour analysis, autism, learning disability or Mental Health
Degree (or higher) in Psychology or a closely related psychological discipline, with demonstrable application of psychological theory to practice
Significant experience working with adults with learning disabilities, autism and/or mental health needs
Implementation of PBS/Recovery approaches
Proven track record of developing, implementing, and reviewing PBS plans and recovery-focused interventions
Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases and provide specialist advice to staff teams and managers
Ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively
Strong communication, observation and team-work skills
A full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential

Nice to have:
Degree-level qualification in Psychology, Health & Social Care, Nursing, or related discipline
Awareness of WRAP, trauma-informed care, Positive Behaviour Intervention Frameworks, functional assessments, co-production and strength-based practice
Specialist training in autism, learning disabilities, or complex trauma (e.g. ADOS training, sensory integration, or trauma-informed care certification
Data analysis & digital literacy
Delivering training, workshops or group sessions
