Evaluate proposed legislation, policy changes, and government actions to determine financial impact and strategic implications for leadership
Develop detailed fiscal assessments, budget projections, and analytical models that support executive decision-making and long-range planning
Advise senior stakeholders on legislative, regulatory, and public policy matters by translating complex information into practical financial guidance
Partner with department leaders and administrators to assess high-priority initiatives and provide recommendations grounded in sound financial analysis
Monitor activity across City Council, the General Assembly, and other public governing bodies to identify developments that may affect operations or funding
Prepare briefings, reports, and presentations for executive leadership and other key stakeholders on budget issues, policy proposals, and legislative priorities
Lead special analytical projects involving revenue trends, expenditure patterns, and policy outcomes within a public-sector environment
Support the development of fiscal impact materials and related documentation used to inform government and leadership discussions
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Finance, Economics, or a closely related discipline
comparable experience may be considered in place of formal education
At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in policy advisory work, legislative affairs, public finance, or a similar function
Minimum of 3 years of direct experience performing fiscal analysis, budget evaluation, or related financial assessment activities
Background working within state or local government settings or providing direct support to public-sector organizations
Strong knowledge of public policy analysis, financial analysis, and the interpretation of legislative or regulatory actions
Ability to communicate complex fiscal information clearly to senior leaders, non-technical stakeholders, and governing bodies
Nice to have
master’s degree in a related field
experience in municipal or county administration, budget offices, or legislative affairs
familiarity with local government procedures, fiscal impact reporting, and presenting analysis to elected officials
