We are looking for an enthusiastic and inquisitive Platform Engineer to help strengthen our platform engineering capabilities and improve the supportability, observability, and documentation of our infrastructure. You will ensure that infrastructure, connectivity, and shared service dependencies are fully mapped, documented, and efficiently supported. You will play a central role in enabling engineering teams by developing and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and operational tooling, with a particular focus on standardising support processes and improving cross-team efficiency. The role is highly collaborative, supporting teams with scalable, secure infrastructure patterns, and shared operational capabilities. You will work with GCP native technologies along with Terraform and Azure DevOps, and contribute to a platform-first engineering culture that values quality, automation, and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibility:
Design, deliver, and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, enabling scalable, secure environments
Support the engineering community by defining infrastructure standards, reusable tooling, and shared CI/CD workflows
Maintain clear documentation of infrastructure, connectivity, and platform dependencies across environments
Champion the creation and maintenance of support documentation, diagrams, and knowledge bases for platform components
Enable integration of 3rd party services and SaaS platforms with Admiral’s services
Ensure observability is embedded across all layers of the infrastructure stack, enabling proactive alerting, monitoring, and root cause analysis
Evaluate and implement tooling to enhance visibility, debugging, and response times for platform services
Collaborate with teams to ensure logs, metrics, and traces are appropriately captured and visualised
Define and advocate for standard processes in platform support, infrastructure change, and incident escalation
Identify and document shared services across the platform, and establish clear ownership models and escalation paths
Review and contribute to infrastructure change processes and CI/CD reviews, ensuring standards are met
Develop and support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps (or equivalent tools), promoting automation across delivery pipelines
Contribute to GitOps practices and infrastructure automation through version-controlled, testable configurations
Ensure pipelines include infrastructure validation, environment promotion, and automated testing stages
Collaborate closely with engineering squads, architecture, governance, and security teams to deliver shared platform outcomes
Contribute actively to Squad, Chapter, and Guild forums, raising platform standards and sharing reusable patterns
Help onboard and support teams using platform infrastructure, ensuring consistent adoption and support coverage
Requirements:
Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services including Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub
Proven experience using Terraform to manage Infrastructure as Code
Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and practical experience with tools like Azure DevOps
Experience integrating 3rd party services/SaaS platforms with Enterprise cloud implementations
Proficient in using Git and version control practices
Familiarity with GitOps tools (e.g. ArgoCD)
Scripting skills (e.g. Bash, Python) to build automation and tooling
Exposure to monitoring, logging, and observability tooling (e.g. Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, GCP Operations Suite)
Understanding of shared service architecture, security, and access control patterns
Strategic Documentation: Ensures infrastructure and connectivity are mapped, maintained, and shared to avoid knowledge gaps
Cross-Team Collaboration: Works effectively with engineering, security, support, and governance to improve platform maturity
Problem Solving: Identifies platform bottlenecks and works to resolve them through tooling and process improvements
Initiative & Ownership: Actively drives improvements to infrastructure reliability, supportability, and knowledge sharing
Resilience & Knowledge Sharing: Prevents single points of failure by openly sharing knowledge and standardising platform processes
Adaptability & Curiosity: Stays up to date with infrastructure trends and is comfortable learning new tools and patterns
