We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to join our Engineering team in Wigan. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-moving, cloud-first environment where technology is constantly evolving. You’ll play a key role in designing, building, and delivering robust AWS-based infrastructure and services that enable our wider engineering teams to deliver high-quality software at pace. As a senior member of the team, you’ll work within a cross-functional environment and contribute across the full software development life cycle — from initial concept through to production deployment and ongoing reliability.
Job Responsibility:
Take ownership of designing and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performing platform infrastructure
Help shape architectural decisions, define design patterns, and ensure solutions meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders
Work closely with engineering teams to champion cloud-first development, implementing infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines that support rapid and reliable delivery
Configure, deploy, and monitor containerised applications using Kubernetes, ensuring system stability and performance
Contribute to improving security, scalability, and capacity across the platform
Support the daily delivery of new software releases
Collaborate with Senior Software Engineers and Product Owners on consumer-facing solutions
Mentor junior and apprentice engineers
Take responsibility for diagnosing and resolving production issues to maintain system reliability
Requirements:
Highly skilled platform engineer with strong experience delivering software and infrastructure across multiple environments
Proven expertise in cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform
Experience working within agile delivery teams
Confident writing clean, maintainable code in at least one of the following: C#, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Terraform
Experience deploying containerised applications into production using Kubernetes
Strong understanding of scalable, highly available systems — particularly for web applications handling time-sensitive or high-traffic data
Deep knowledge of modern web, mobile, and cloud technologies
Experience working with databases and content management systems
Passion for continuous improvement
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to analyse metrics to drive informed decisions
Collaborative team player who enjoys mentoring others
Self-starter who can identify what needs to be done and see it through to completion
