Job Description

An exciting opportunity for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Cloud Operations team, working across Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). In this role, you'll make a significant impact across Nine’s premier media portfolio by optimising the cloud infrastructure powering iconic brands like The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, 9Now, and Stan. You will drive organisation-wide value by reducing cloud spend, enhancing security and empowering our engineering teams to accelerate cloud adoption and deliver world-class content to millions of Australians. This position requires a strong understanding of cloud technologies, automation, and best practices for infrastructure as code.

Job Responsibility

  • Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments
  • Monitor and optimise system performance, availability, and security
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth application deployments
  • Document infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures
  • Participate in on-call rotations for incident response
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and trends

Requirements

  • Strong experience with AWS and/or GCP services, including compute, storage, networking, and security
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, teamCity, GitLab CI)
  • Experience with containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Nice to have

  • AWS or GCP certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect)
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash)
