Job Description

We are currently supporting a Local Authority in Surrey seeking an experienced Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to take the lead on complex enforcement cases within a well-established planning service, offering flexible hybrid working with just one day per week required in the office.

Requirements

  • Lead and manage a caseload of complex planning enforcement investigations
  • Investigate alleged breaches of planning control, including site visits and evidence gathering
  • Prepare and serve enforcement notices and take appropriate legal action where required
  • Provide professional advice to internal stakeholders, elected members, and the public
  • Represent the Council at appeals, hearings, and public inquiries
  • Support and mentor junior officers where required
  • Gypsy and traveller experience required

  • Work in partnership with stakeholders such as landowners, Parish Councils, Thames Valley Police and the Environment Agency
  • Support prevention activity, contributing to media and communications work including social media and press releases
