Senior Physicist / Senior Electromagnetics Engineer to join and lead key initiatives within our expanding research, design and development teams. This is an ideal opportunity for a senior scientist or engineer with substantial industrial experience wanting to step into a leadership role, guiding development, managing teams, and shaping the future of our products.
Job Responsibility:
Lead planning and execution of internal and collaborative R&D projects
Identify and pursue appropriate funding sources, including authoring or co-authoring grant proposals
Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and trends to influence strategic direction
Conduct experimental design, data analysis, and simulation work using tools such as ANSYS, Maxwell 3D, and common programming languages (e.g. Python)
Provide high-level technical consultancy to customers and project partners
Promote and uphold best practices in health and safety, lab conduct, and documentation
Lead the design, simulation, and testing of magnetic shielding solutions across industries (e.g. quantum technologies, electronics, aerospace, medical, etc.)
Supervise and mentor junior physicists and engineers, overseeing technical quality and supporting career development
Manage cross-functional R&D projects from inception to delivery, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met
Provide technical leadership in magnetic qualification (QC) and oversee the generation of customer-facing technical documentation
Represent the company in external collaborations, including multi-party research consortia, funding bodies, and industrial partners
Support the R&D Manager in strategic planning, including the formulation of research pipelines
Drive innovation by identifying new opportunities, evaluating feasibility, and proposing forward-looking projects in new market sectors
Coordinate with production and design teams to translate R&D developments into manufacturable solutions
Develop and implement process improvements in simulation, feasibility testing, product qualification and laboratory automation
Present technical findings internally and externally, including to non-specialist stakeholders and executives
Requirements:
PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Physics / Electronic Engineering (2:1 or above)
Minimum 7 years of relevant industrial experience, including team or project leadership
Demonstratable ability to manage technical teams and complex R&D projects
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong programming and data analysis skills
Experience in laboratory prototyping/testing and technical documentation
Proven problem-solving and strategic thinking capabilities
Familiarity of performing research and development within an ISO9001 quality management system
Knowledge and experience working to relevant electromagnetic IEC standards
Nice to have:
Deep knowledge of electromagnetism, materials science, soft magnetics or magnetic metamaterials
Electronic design experience especially with magnetic components, low noise current sources, power electronics and inductive load driving
Previous experience in an engineering leadership or project management role
Familiarity with EM simulation software and instrumentation automation
Experience in industrial R&D and scaling up new product initiatives into manufacturing
Track record of successful funding acquisition or industry collaborations
Good presentation skills and ability to communicate across disciplines
