Sheffield Children's Hospital is a leading specialist paediatric centre, and our Pharmacy Department delivers a progressive, patient-focused service across the region--making it a truly rewarding place to work. We're excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and forward-thinking Aseptics Team. As we continue to expand our aseptic services, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of advanced therapeutic medicinal products, emerging therapies, and clinical trials.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare, process check, and coordinate aseptic products including CIVAS, PN, cytotoxics, and ATMPs
  • Assemble and verify trays for manufacture
  • write, label, and check worksheets
  • Ensure accurate costing and tracking of materials and consumables
  • Contribute to quality management and investigate deviations
  • Support senior technicians in daily operations and staff training
  • Manage day-to-day activities and assist in writing procedures within the aseptic unit
  • Support staff training and development within the unit

Requirements

  • GPhC registration as a Pharmacy Technician, or Science Council registration as a Science Manufacturing Technician
  • Experience in aseptic services, with a strong understanding of GMP and quality systems
  • A proactive approach to supervision and coordination in a clinical setting
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and patient safety
  • On GPHC register
  • BTEC in pharmaceutical sciences, NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences/Services or equivalent
  • Experience of pharmacy aseptic dispensing or within a pharmaceutical production facility
  • Knowledge of GMP guidelines
  • Good IT skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good at problem solving and mediating issues
  • Self-motivated, pro-active and good at motivating others
  • Reliable

  • Good organisational skills and able to co-ordinate work with others effectively

  • Complete the final checks of all Renal products to be dispensed, ensuring all errors are recorded on designated forms, errors are corrected and escalated to the duty supervisors and Principal Pharmacist
  • Maintain the required pharmacy dispensing records, ensuring a clear audit trail using Good Documentation Practices
  • Ensure all details for home patient orders are correct and patient labels are applied to every product in accordance with the labelling requirements in the Medicines, Ethics and Practice guide for Pharmacists and the labelling recommendations of the NPSA
  • Ensuring all orders are processed on time as required by the patient, check all returns, and complete the relevant pharmacy documentation
  • Ensure a full and complete handover is completed and communicated before the end/beginning of each shift to the Responsible Pharmacist
  • Undertake Pharmacy Risk Assessments and submit report findings to the Responsible Pharmacist
  • Support pharmacy procedural activities with the Pharmacist including complaint management and prescription investigations
  • File prescriptions and legal documents to enable easy access to each patient’s detailed history in line with General Data Protection Regulations
  • Ensure all outstanding prescriptions are retrieved from the hospitals to ensure compliance with the Human Medicines Regulations
  • Collate the daily errors/near misses and submit it to the Senior Dispensers as part of the monthly statistics
