Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Performance Testing Engineer to lead the design, development, and execution of our performance and scalability testing strategy. You’ll partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to ensure our mission-critical platform is reliable, performant, and ready to scale with our rapidly growing user base. In this role, you’ll define what “performance quality” means at Onebrief, contributing to frameworks, metrics, and automation that allow us to understand and improve system performance continuously. You’ll introduce best practices around performance testing, help integrate them into CI/CD, and mentor others in data-driven performance engineering. This is a foundational role that will shape how we think about performance, reliability, and quality as we scale our product and infrastructure.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead performance testing strategy, planning, and execution using k6 (open-source and cloud)
  • Design and implement robust, reusable, and parameterized performance test scripts in Typescript
  • Simulate realistic load, stress, and soak test scenarios across APIs, web applications, and microservices
  • Analyze results to uncover bottlenecks and performance issues across front-end, backend, and database layers
  • Partner with Developers, DevOps, and Architects to integrate performance objectives into the CI/CD pipeline
  • Work with stakeholders to define and maintain performance SLAs and ensure adherence across environments
  • Collaborate with the Quality Enablement team to evolve our performance observability, tooling, and metrics strategy
  • Mentor engineers on performance testing best practices, code efficiency, and scalability principles
  • Present detailed reports and insights that guide product and infrastructure improvements

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in performance testing and engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with k6, including scripting, scenario modeling, and analysis
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/Typescript for k6 scripting
  • Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, InfluxDB, or similar monitoring and metrics tools
  • Strong understanding of HTTP, REST, WebSockets, and microservices architectures
  • Solid experience integrating performance tests in CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins)
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and distributed load testing setups
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with additional performance tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling, Artillery)
  • Familiarity with playwright, either in e2e or in Artillery/K6/Locust
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized test environments
  • Experience building performance dashboards and observability pipelines
  • ISTQB Performance Tester certification or similar credentials

What we offer

  • Equity: Share in the company's success
  • Flexible Work Environment: Remote-first organization* with flexible work hours and unlimited PTO
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Retirement Plan: 401(k) plan with company match to secure your future
  • Parental Leave: 8 weeks at 100% regardless of state
  • Company Retreats: Annual company summit trips
  • Home Office Budget: $1,000 per year for home office improvements
