Senior Payroll Specialist

• Review and audit payroll data for accuracy, including timekeeping, new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, and compensation changes
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and tax regulations
• Provide backup support for processing weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll for over 5,000 employees across multiple locations
• Prepare and file payroll tax returns and support year-end reporting, including W-2s
• Balance payroll-related general ledger accounts
• Document and communicate payroll processes and procedures across the organization
• Respond to and resolve employee payroll inquiries, including deductions and garnishments
• Maintain payroll records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure data integrity and alignment
• Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll documentation
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies
• Train and mentor Payroll Specialists as needed

• 5+ years of experience in payroll processing, with at least 1 year in a senior or lead capacity
• Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
• Proficiency in payroll software
• UKG experience preferred
• Advanced Excel skills with exceptional attention to detail
• High level of integrity in handling sensitive and confidential data
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred
• Experience with multi-state payroll processing

Familiarity with UKG systems and integrations is a plus
