We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join a growing organization on a temp-to-hire basis. This role will oversee full-cycle payroll processing with a strong focus on compliance, multi-state payroll administration, and leave of absence (LOA) coordination.
Job Responsibility:
Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll (weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly)
Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws
Administer and track Leave of Absence (FMLA, CFRA, disability, paid family leave, etc.)
Coordinate payroll adjustments related to LOA, garnishments, and benefits
Partner with HR and Benefits teams on employee changes and compliance matters
Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger accounts
Prepare payroll tax filings and support audits
Maintain accurate payroll records and internal controls
Assist with year-end processing (W-2s, tax reconciliations)
Requirements:
5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll
Strong knowledge of payroll compliance regulations
Experience with ADP (Workforce Now or similar platform) highly preferred
Hands-on experience with LOA administration and compliance
Familiarity with FMLA, state-specific leave laws, and disability programs
Strong Excel skills (v-lookups, pivot tables)
High level of accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality
