Job Description:

Atlassian is looking for a passionate Payroll Accountant to join our Global Payroll Team. This role involves responsibilities such as managing payroll-related month-end activities, performing variance analysis, supporting audits, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving process improvements. The role requires expertise in payroll and GL accounting, advanced Excel skills, proficiency in ERP systems, and a proactive mindset.

Job Responsibility:

  • Take ownership of global payroll related month-end activities including journal entries, accruals, estimates, and reconciliations
  • Perform variance and flux analysis on employee expenses, benefits costs, and various payroll balance sheet accounts
  • Assist in audits by preparing PBC schedules, compiling supporting documentation, and offering detailed insights into payroll processes to facilitate both internal and external audits
  • Collaborate with Payroll Operations, FP&A, Tax, Legal, HR and other cross-functional teams to gather data, improve processes, and support business needs
  • Participate in projects and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for system enhancements or new implementations
  • Identify process improvement, automation opportunities and implement solutions to help improve efficiency and reduce risk

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Payroll accounting, GL accounting, or a related area
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proficiency in large ERP system (Oracle Fusion, Workday)
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience in data analysis
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities
  • Must be comfortable working with a remote manager and global team
