The Senior Payroll Expert is a highly experienced professional who serves as the primary authority on multi-country payroll operations. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking to optimize payroll processes across multiple jurisdictions. The Senior Payroll Expert leads complex implementations, drives innovation in payroll delivery, and mentors other team members while maintaining hands-on involvement in critical payroll operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Process payroll for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on payroll-related matters, providing guidance and support to other teams as needed
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency of payroll processing
  • Monitor and analyze payroll data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency
  • Stay informed of relevant Japanese regulatory and policy changes, communicating and establishing key changes across teams
  • Work cross-functionally to provide expertise on Japan payroll and HR matters
  • Respond to complex payroll and HR related questions from employees and clients

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • 8+ years of experience processing payroll for multiple entities and countries
  • Strong working knowledge of local regulations and policies related to payroll and HR in Japan
  • Advanced knowledge of local payroll software solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to different audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
