Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Professional to support a long-term project assignment through the end of the year. This role requires a hands-on payroll specialist with significant experience using ADP Workforce Now, strong multi-state payroll knowledge, and the ability to manage high-volume payroll processing in a complex environment. The position is fully onsite, five days a week, and is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who can step in quickly and contribute with minimal training.
Job Responsibility:
Process high-volume, multi-state payroll accurately and on schedule
Manage payroll for an employee population of 2,000+ employees
Use ADP Workforce Now extensively for payroll processing, reporting, auditing, and issue resolution
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including California payroll requirements
Review payroll data for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues promptly
Reconcile payroll reports and assist with payroll audits as needed
Partner with HR, Finance, and internal stakeholders to validate employee data and support payroll operations
Create, manipulate, and analyze payroll-related reports using advanced Excel skills
Support project-related payroll initiatives, process improvements, and cleanup efforts
Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee and payroll information
Requirements:
Significant hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now
Proven experience processing payroll for 2,000+ employees
Strong multi-state payroll experience, including California payroll
Very strong Excel skills, including reporting, formulas, data analysis, and reconciliations
Deep understanding of payroll laws, tax withholdings, garnishments, deductions, and compliance requirements
Ability to work onsite five days a week
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
Nice to have:
Experience supporting payroll projects, system cleanups, or process improvement initiatives
CPP designation or related payroll certification is a plus
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams
