A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Payroll Administrator to join a friendly and progressive accountancy practice in Chester. As part of a busy payroll team, you'll manage a diverse portfolio of small and high-volume payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and delivering excellent service to clients. You will receive full system training and ongoing support within a friendly, collaborative team environment.
Job Responsibility:
End-to-end processing of weekly and monthly payrolls
Managing auto-enrolment pensions
Handling payroll queries in a timely and professional manner
Liaising with HMRC and pension providers
Processing BACS, PAYE, CIS, holiday pay, SMP/SSP
Managing starters and leavers (P45s/P46s)
Supporting P11D processing
Staying up to date with payroll legislation
Mentoring and supporting junior team members
Requirements:
Proven payroll experience (accountancy practice or bureau preferred)
Strong understanding of payroll legislation and processes
Experience with BrightPay (desirable)
Ability to manage multiple payrolls and meet deadlines
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proactive, organised, and capable of working independently and as part of a team
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Nice to have:
Experience with BrightPay (desirable)
