Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Accountant to oversee payroll operations for a construction company based in Harahan, Louisiana. This role requires a meticulous and detail-oriented individual who can ensure accurate processing of payroll for both field and office employees while adhering to labor laws and tax regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of payroll systems and practices.

Job Responsibility:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, including field workers and office staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Review and validate timesheets, wage rates, job codes, and overtime calculations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, tax, and labor regulations
  • Collaborate with project managers to collect and verify timekeeping data
  • Manage payroll deductions such as benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries for accounting purposes
  • Maintain up-to-date employee records and update payroll systems as necessary
  • Generate and distribute payroll reports for management, accounting, and HR teams
  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and resolve any discrepancies
  • Assist with year-end reporting tasks, including W-2 preparation and annual audits

Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience, ideally within the construction industry or a similar high-volume sector
  • Proficiency in payroll software such as ADP Workforce Now, Paycom, Viewpoint, or Sage, along with advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Familiarity with prevailing wage, union requirements, and certified payroll processes is advantageous
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing top-notch customer service
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Knowledge of payroll for multi-state operations and job costing is beneficial
