Under the general direction of the Associate General Counsel, the Senior Paralegal manages and supports complex litigation and claims matters, exercising a high degree of discretion, professional judgment, and accountability. This position is 100% remote, however, some travel may be required for Legal Team meetings and other work purposes.
Job Responsibility:
Support the conducting of internal complex investigations into claims, including but not limited to, fact finding, gathering and preserving evidence
Oversee opening a new claim and new claim intake in accordance with internal company procedures
Notice claims to the broker/carrier at the direction of the Associate General Counsel
Manage the Litigation Hold process
Partners with Legal team to obtain information, documents, and authorization needed to complete oral and written discovery
Acts as the main point of contact for the sharing of factual information surrounding a claim among the business, broker, carrier, external counsel, and the Legal department
Maintain InnovAge internal claim files
Assist with responding to request for documents and personnel files
Assist with processing settlement agreements
Otherwise assist with Litigation as needed
Assist with the electronic management and storage of Legal Department documents, including but not limited to pleadings, settlement documents, and various correspondence
Works with the Legal Team on special projects and initiatives and other appropriate functions as may be assigned
Serves as liaison between the Legal department and various business departments on ongoing projects
Partners closely with the Legal team with drafting presentation decks for leadership updates
Assist with review and distribution of Legal Department communications
Provide senior level support for other Legal Team members during absences and PTO
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
Minimum of seven years of experience as a paralegal with corporation for healthcare system or health plan is preferred
Paralegal education and/or certification
Strong ability and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and other legal software
Thorough knowledge and understanding of litigation
Excellent organization and collaboration skills
Communication – must be able to demonstrate timely, appropriate and professional communication internally within the Legal Team and other departments, and externally with external counsel and other third parties
Good interpersonal skills – must be able to develop the trust and respect of the business to get information needed to defend acclaims and cases
Motivate, hard worker who can work with minimal supervision
Experienced at solving problems and making decisions on a daily basis relative to current projects and matters highly preferred
Paralegal Certification
Prior experience in premier AmLaw 100/200 firm or sophisticated corporate/litigation practice is strongly preferred
Strong proficiency with computers, general office procedures, use of business machines and clerical processes as it relates to the creation and maintenance of documents is highly preferred
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills preferred
