Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated, passionate and experienced Orthotist to join Proactive – our private Prosthetic and Orthotic branch of clinics. The successful candidate will be responsible for the treatment and care of privately funded complex orthotic patients, with a patient demographic predominately of poly-trauma and neurological conditions. Collaboration with case managers, solicitors, alongside the patient, will be key to delivering coordinated, patient-crafted care. The role also involves ensuring continued growth of caseload through active pipeline generation and relationship management of referrers and other associated healthcare professionals. Based in Leeds 4 days per week, and 1 day per week in our Manchester clinic, this position requires a dynamic individual, committed to the highest standards of patient care with prior orthotic experience and the relevant qualifications and registration to work in the UK, preferably with experience of working in the private healthcare sector.

Job Responsibility

  • Management of Complex Patients: Provide expert care and management for patients with complex orthotic needs including poly-trauma and neurological conditions
  • Service Development: Lead initiatives to grow and develop the orthotic service, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of patients and the clinic. Presenting at external events and hosting home clinic events for Solicitors and case Managers
  • Patient Care: Take full responsibility for the complete process of patient care, from assessment and prescription to treatment and follow-up
  • Liaison: Work closely with case managers and solicitors to coordinate client care
  • Multidisciplinary Team Participation: Act as a key member of the MDT, contributing to collaborative care planning and decision-making
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the delivery of high-quality care for all patients, maintaining the clinic’s standards and protocols

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience in orthotics
  • Proven experience managing complex orthotic cases, including poly-trauma and neurological conditions

  • Deliver the Orthotics service which includes implementing the treatment prescribed by the referrer
  • To carry out Orthotic clinics on an outreach basis based on clinical requirements and demand
  • Provide and advise patients on application and use of orthoses supplied
  • To review prescriptions submitted to Galway/Roscommon/Mayo PCCC’s from external Orthotic suppliers, and approve based on clinical information, price range and budget constraints
  • Use clinical knowledge and experience to carry out clinical assessments and recommend changes to treatment
  • Ensure that a patient is given full explanation on the purpose of treatment. This needs to given in plain language, in a manner the patient can understand, and available in written format
  • Provide clinical advice where required
  • To maintain clinical records of treatments/intervention of patients referred
  • Carry out quarterly Audit Clinics to ensure appliances remain appropriate for a sample of clients. To monitor and review audit trail
