This is a senior role for an experienced GIS professional to lead geospatial input across projects, manage spatial data, and mentor a team of GIS specialists. You will take a lead role in delivering high-quality geospatial solutions across environmental planning, landscape architecture, ecology, arboriculture, and construction site support projects. You will develop and manage GIS and CAD workflows, provide technical guidance, and support strategic decision-making within the consultancy. This role offers the chance to influence geospatial processes across the business while managing and mentoring junior team members.
Job Responsibility:
Lead geospatial input across multidisciplinary projects, including GIS and CAD mapping and analysis
Develop and manage spatial databases, tools, and workflows to support project delivery
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and management for junior geospatial team members
Integrate geospatial solutions into environmental assessments, planning applications, and design processes
Innovate and improve geospatial capabilities, including automation, web mapping, and data visualisation
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies
Support business development and tender preparation for new projects
Requirements:
Proven experience in a geospatial role within environmental consultancy or a related field
Proficient in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, including spatial data management and administration
Strong understanding of environmental datasets, planning processes, and spatial analysis techniques
Demonstrated expertise in cartographic principles for clear, accurate mapping outputs
Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD and Bentley ProjectWise
Proficiency with Python, ModelBuilder, or other automation tools
Excellent communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience managing junior geospatial team members
Nice to have:
Familiarity with remote sensing, LiDAR, or 3D modelling is advantageous
Chartered status or working towards chartership (e.g., CGeog, CEnv) desirable
Experience in tendering for new work is an advantage
