We’re looking for a Senior Operations Accountant who thrives in project‑based environments and loves turning complex cost data into clear financial insight. You’ll be embedded with Project Management and Operations, owning job cost accuracy, supporting critical closes, and ensuring leadership has the data needed to make smart, timely decisions across the project lifecycle.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and post journal entries for labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, inventory, and accruals
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve variances
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles
  • Deliver project-level reporting (cost, margin, and variance analysis)
  • Support internal and external audits with confidence and precision
  • Maintain accurate job cost accounting in ERP systems
  • Assist with cost-to-complete updates and percent-complete (ASC 606) calculations
  • Analyze project variances and partner with Project Managers to resolve drivers
  • Support project setup, budgeting, forecasting, and closeout
  • Collaborate across Operations, Procurement, and Finance to enhance data accuracy
  • Support progress, milestone, and T&M billing
  • Reconcile billed revenue to project records and the G/L
  • Track change orders and contract modifications
  • Support AR analysis, including retainage and billing reconciliations
  • Support compliance with prevailing wage, certified payroll, and labor regulations
  • Assist with sales/use tax tracking in coordination with Tax and Payroll
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and internal controls
  • Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement
  • Protect ERP integrity and job cost reliability

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or Master's preferred
  • 5+ years of project accounting experience (EPC, construction, or engineering strongly preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, contract accounting, ASC 606, percent-complete
  • Experience in fast-paced, deadline-driven project environments
  • Hands-on ERP/project accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office proficiency

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Process improvement mindset (Lean / Six Sigma a plus)
  • Comfortable working independently and cross-functionally
  • Experience with Microsoft Great Plains or similar ERP systems
