The role is responsible for the provision of quality service in line with standards of Physiotherapy practice. As a key member of the frontline management team, the Senior Out Patients Physiotherapist will demonstrate managerial and leadership skills and facilitate effective communication with colleagues in the hospital. The position requires a participatory approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve organisational objectives.
Job Responsibility:
Management of all HMC patient and staff referrals by triaging, prioritizing and delegating each referral to the most appropriate physiotherapy provider
Work effectively with the other members of the senior management team to shape, provide and monitor out-patient physiotherapy services
Hold a clinical caseload, working as an autonomous practitioner providing expert musculoskeletal triage, assessment, clinical diagnosis and management of patients
Ensure that the physiotherapy service is effective, of high quality and well-coordinated
Provide skilled physiotherapy assessment and diagnosis for patients with a wide range of highly complex conditions including post-operative patients
Demonstrating a high level of clinical effectiveness while acting as a source of expertise to fellow members of the physiotherapy service
Ensure patient records throughout the department are accurate and comprehensive in line with legal requirements and best standards of physiotherapy practice
To be flexible with treating in-patients during periods of department leave and day care / orthopaedic inpatients after 4pm
Participation in the weekend on call roster when required
Facilitate effective communication within the Physiotherapy Department, with Consultants and with other multidisciplinary team members
Play an active role in the operational, strategic management and development of the physiotherapy service
Ensure that policies, protocols and procedures are reviewed for effectiveness and appropriateness and that changes are implemented as necessary

Requirements:
BSc (Honours) degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Dublin
Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland
Bachelor in Physiotherapy (Honours) degree from the National University of Ireland
Diploma of Physiotherapy of the University of Dublin or the National University
BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Limerick
Physiotherapy qualification validated by the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapy
CORU registered
Hold a physiotherapy qualification recognised by the physiotherapists registration Board at CORU
I.S.C.P. recognised equivalent to above
Minimum of 4 years post graduate satisfactory experience
Knowledge of the operational procedures in the Physiotherapy Department
Ability to participate in orthopaedic evening service (post induction)
