BMT is recruiting for an Offshore Senior Structural Engineer to join our experienced team to enhance the capacity and capability of the team. The Offshore Senior Structural Engineer at BMT will work as a senior member of the Materials & Structures team, providing technical and management support.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct and support the design and integrity assessment of offshore platforms, risers, umbilicals, and associated equipment
Conduct the structural assessment of built assets under a variety of loading conditions to support the identification of optimal locations for instrumentation including motion sensors and strain gauges
Ability to complete or support the completion of engineering assessments, integrity management program activities, engineering critical assessments, and interpretation of NDE inspection reports for cracks, corrosion, deformations, and other threats for offshore oil & gas assets
Be a technical leader for offshore structural engineering
Have experience and familiarity with relevant US and global offshore codes and standards
Support project and business management
Identify opportunities for technology and staff improvement
Review, discuss and refer business opportunities to appropriate business units (e.g., Structural Integrity, Welding, Materials, Software & Instrumentation, Design & Construction)
Executing and directing technical projects
Providing guidance and mentoring to junior staff
Write, review and contribute to project reports
Manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
Requirements:
Experience within the North American Energy industry, specifically offshore pipelines and facilities
Over 10 years of related engineering experience
Proven engineering skills and ability to attain or possess a professional engineering designation
Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Civil Engineering, and a relevant post-graduate degree is preferred
In depth subject matter expertise related to design and fitness for service assessment of offshore structures
Ability to execute or coordinate numerical modelling (e.g. finite element modelling, computational fluid dynamics)
Experience working with industry standards
Knowledge and experience developing integrity management plans (IMP)
Knowledge related to reliability and risk assessment
