Job Description:

Metlen Energy and Metals is seeking an O&M Technician to support our M Renewables Division in the UK. This position will report to the O&M Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical engineering background, hands-on experience with renewable energy systems (solar PV and/or BESS), and a commitment to safety, reliability, and operational excellence.

Job Responsibility:

  • Actively participate in all Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities related to overall site improvement and maintenance of LV and HV electrical networks
  • Manage and provide hands-on support for the delivery of all maintenance activities, ensuring works are completed efficiently and safely
  • Ensure full compliance with the Company's Electrical Safety Rules (ESRs)
  • Produce in-house Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for LV scheduled works
  • Promote and ensure electrical safety across all sites during LV or other electrical works
  • Assist in developing and refining maintenance procedures to improve performance and reliability
  • Identify and coordinate external resources or subcontractors required for specific maintenance activities
  • Liaise with the Operational Management Team and site operatives to address day-to-day operational issues
  • Perform Electrical Site Technician duties, including troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and repairs
  • Promote a positive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) culture across all O&M activities, recommending continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Background in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years' professional experience as a Field Technician in PV Solar and/or Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects
  • Qualified Electrician with valid industry-recognised certifications
  • Good mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in electrical systems design and solar connections
  • Up-to-date industry-recognised Authorised Person (AP) course (HV AP2 / AP3 Authorisation)
  • Skilled in test equipment use, fault finding, VLF testing, and insulation resistance (IR) testing
  • Proven experience in renewable energy installations (O&M, construction, or commissioning)
