Job Description:

As a Senior Nurse (General) at a Barchester care home, you’ll use your leadership skills to make sure our residents get the quality care we’re known for. We’ll look to you to be a hands-on clinical leader that creates a safe and supportive environment for our residents with a range of mental and physical needs. You’ll use your professional judgement to make critical clinical decisions, from assessing the needs of a new resident to implementing safeguarding policies and administrating medicines in line with NMC regulations. As part of your wide range of responsibilities, you’ll support and mentor your team to make sure they have the clinical training they need to deliver the highest standards of nursing. As a Senior Nurse (General), you’ll have the freedom and autonomy to do things the right way – and be truly valued and respected for what you do.

Job Responsibility:

  • Use leadership skills to ensure residents get quality care
  • Be a hands-on clinical leader creating a safe and supportive environment for residents with mental and physical needs
  • Use professional judgement to make critical clinical decisions
  • Assess needs of new residents
  • Implement safeguarding policies
  • Administrate medicines in line with NMC regulations
  • Support and mentor team to ensure they have clinical training to deliver highest standards of nursing

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration
  • Mentoring or supervision qualification
  • Experience producing care plans and detailed risk assessments
  • Up-to-date knowledge on recent clinical practices
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks, including DoLs/MCA and Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines
  • Experience working with older people
  • Experience acting as a clinical mentor, including supporting newly qualified nurses through preceptorship
  • Natural leader and problem solver
  • Dedicated, ambitious and resilient
  • Strong track record of delivering improvements to achieve quality care
