Job Description:

Senior Network Engineer role at PagerDuty focusing on designing, implementing, and securing globally distributed network infrastructure. The position involves leading large-scale networking initiatives across cloud environments and global offices, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity for a distributed workforce.

Job Responsibility:

Lead the design and implementation of large-scale network solutions across global offices, cloud environments, and remote access endpoints
Support and optimize DNS security and Zero Trust solutions (e.g., Cloudflare, Zscaler, Cisco Umbrella)
Architect and maintain core controls, including DDoS mitigation, firewall policies, DNS filtering, and Zero Trust access management
Provide senior-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical network issues
Manage and respond to PagerDuty alerts while participating in a global on-call rotation
Partner with IT Operations teams to reinforce network performance, availability, and security
Research evolving threat landscapes and evaluate new network security tools

Requirements:

8+ years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering, design, and operations within large-scale, globally distributed environments
Professional-level network certification (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent)
Extensive hands-on experience with advanced TCP/IP networking, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and modern network architectures
Demonstrated proficiency in network automation and infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar
Familiarity with cross‑platform corporate environments, including macOS, Windows, and other enterprise operating systems
Proven experience with DNS security platforms and Zero Trust solutions (e.g., Cloudflare, Zscaler, Cisco Umbrella)
Hands-on experience designing and managing networking in public cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
Strong background in enterprise network security, including DDoS mitigation, IDS/IPS, DNS security, and Zero Trust architectures
Deep understanding of modern networking and SaaS-based security platforms (e.g., Zscaler, Cloudflare, Cisco Umbrella) and enterprise firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto)
Expertise with packet capture, analysis, and advanced network monitoring/performance tools
Proven track record of mentoring team members and leading technical initiatives in a globally distributed team

Nice to have:

Cloud networking experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure
Security expertise in DDoS mitigation, IDS/IPS, DNS security, and Zero Trust architectures
SaaS security tooling knowledge (Zscaler, Cloudflare, Cisco Umbrella, Palo Alto firewalls)
Monitoring & optimization expertise with packet capture and network performance tools
Team leadership and mentoring experience
