Working as a core member of our Naval Architecture team, you will provide a full range of expert advice and consulting services to a range of insurance, legal and other clients. This could include working on stability studies, investigate mooring incidents and shipbuilding disputes, and much more.
Job Responsibility:
Preparation of written expert reports and consultancy advice in a range of naval architecture fields
Plan & execute work scopes including deliverables and schedule manpower resources
Oversee Naval Architectural engineering progress and deliverables for assigned cases as required
Supervise and conduct engineering calculations and analysis to support projects / cases
Provide a full range of naval architecture casualty and salvage support services in ongoing situations
Carry out and report a wide range of surveys such as casualty, damage, load outs and suitability surveys
Assist in growing the shipping business by seeking out new opportunities and securing new clients based on personal reputation in the market
Identify, prepare tender documentation and secure maritime consulting work for ABL
Speak at conferences, seminars and other public forums on behalf of ABL promoting ABL Group services
Liaise with clients to ensure project completion and customer satisfaction
Assist in managing, training and mentoring naval architecture and engineering staff
Participate in the full range of marketing activities working within the ABL CRM system to develop and maintain a wide range of industry contacts
Represent the interests of the ABL Group to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity
Responsible for delivering above within the timeframe, costs, HSE and quality standards established by ABL Group
Requirements:
Educated to degree level in Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering, or equivalent
At least 10 years’ worth of relevant experience within the Maritime sector
Chartered Engineer status or equivalent
Experience of providing consulting services to the insurance and legal markets and working on casualty cases
Excellent knowledge of ship design, repair, new construction and conversion processes
Excellent knowledge of class and statutory compliance frameworks
Experience of conducting computations such as hydrostatic, strength and stability analysis, transportation studies, mooring analysis, motions and seakeeping, ship powering etc
Proven expertise with a wide a variety of engineering analysis computer programs such as: GHS Hydrostatics, Orcaflex, and Ansys or equivalent
