You will join a project focused on maintaining and evolving a distributed MySQL database environment that supports critical payment systems. This role combines hands-on database administration with close collaboration with development and QA teams across both on-premise and cloud environments.
Job Responsibility:
Install, configure, and maintain MySQL databases and clustering solutions
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness
Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries and indexes
Manage backup and recovery processes, including hot backups
Perform database upgrades, patching, and migrations
Collaborate with development teams on schema design, query optimization, and application profiling
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents, providing technical support
Implement and enforce database security policies and best practices
Create and maintain technical documentation
Participate in customer-facing technical consultations when needed
Stay up to date with MySQL ecosystem developments and industry best practices
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience as a MySQL Database Administrator
Strong knowledge of MySQL architecture, replication, and clustering
Proven experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing
Experience with AWS RDS Aurora
Expertise in backup and recovery strategies
Ability to work independently in production environments
Nice to have:
Experience with high availability and disaster recovery design
Scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python)
Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience in customer-facing technical roles or consulting
Knowledge of database security and compliance in regulated environments
