Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our team at Wilpinjong Mine, a large open-cut, low strip ratio thermal coal operation located 58 kilometres northeast of Mudgee, NSW. Producing ~12 Mtpa, Wilpinjong is a multi-seam truck/excavator and dozer push operation supplying both domestic and export markets. This is a senior technical role that offers the opportunity to influence mine performance while working in a dynamic and collaborative team environment. Job Responsibility

  • Developing practical and optimised designs and schedules
  • Engaging closely with operational stakeholders to communicate plans and manage execution
  • Leading and mentoring a team of Mining Engineers
  • Driving operational efficiency through innovative planning and continuous improvement
  • Navigating the technical challenges of multiple coal and waste horizons, complex geology, and environmental compliance

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering (or equivalent)
  • At least 5 years of open-cut mining experience
  • Proficiency in mine planning software such as Vulcan, SPRY, or Deswik
  • Strong communication and planning skills, with the ability to mentor others and coordinate across teams
  • A focus on continuous improvement, both personally and professionally
  • A proactive attitude toward safety and environmental responsibility
