We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Support Worker to join our incredible Residential Service. We have opportunities available located in LE2 3JD

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide support to individuals with learning disabilities in accordance with their support plans, cultural needs, and preferences
  • Assist with personal care tasks such as toileting and bathing, as outlined in support plans
  • Guide and support the staff team in their daily duties and ensure adherence to job descriptions and policies
  • Create a positive working environment that aligns with organizational values and objectives
  • Conduct regular supervision with team members to offer feedback, set goals, and identify areas for development
  • Identify training needs and facilitate relevant training sessions or workshops for staff
  • Support staff in obtaining necessary qualifications and certifications
  • Ensure the rights, dignity, health, and privacy of service users are maintained at all times
  • Assist the people we support with daily routines, support needs, and activities, documenting progress towards personal goals
  • Maintain a safe environment and protect the people we support from harm, addressing incidents and accidents as they occur
  • Complete agency and work placement inductions for new staff and support their integration into the service
  • Maintain accurate records, including documentation of supervision sessions, support plans, and risk assessments
  • Ensure daily paperwork is completed accurately and assist with people we support reviews and assessments
  • Conduct health and safety checks on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, reporting concerns to the team manager
  • Assist with staff competency checks in medication administration and moving and handling
  • Serve as the first point of contact for staff and address issues as they arise, collaborating with team leaders or managers
  • Work positively with colleagues, families, external organizations, and professionals to improve support services
  • Participate in learning and development opportunities and contribute new ideas for improving support provision
  • Conduct spot checks to ensure compliance and quality of care. Reporting findings to Team Managers and Service Managers
  • Maintain client and business confidentiality at all times
  • Assist with transitions and referrals into the service, providing support to new individuals as needed
  • Drive service user or company vehicles for outings or appointments
  • Undertake any other duties as appropriate to support the needs of service users and the organization

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Support Worker in a similar setting, providing care to Adults with Learning Disabilities and challenging behaviours
  • The ability to multi-task at a high level
  • Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail
  • IT literate with basic proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • A positive ‘can do’ attitude with a proactive approach
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A compassionate, caring, and empathetic personality
  • A genuine passion for making a meaningful difference in people’s lives
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour and conflict effectively
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
  • Experience in administering medication and managing complex needs
  • Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches
