Active Pathways is delighted to be recruiting for a compassionate Senior Mental Health Support Worker to join our brand-new residential service, Fernside House, in Armley, Leeds. Fernside House will provide a safe and supportive home for men with enduring mental health needs, and we’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to person-centred, recovery-focused care. As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in providing consistent, high-quality care while also supporting and guiding colleagues to ensure the best outcomes for residents.

Job Responsibility

  • Support and supervise Recovery Support Workers in assisting residents with daily living tasks to promote independence
  • Provide personal care and ensure high-quality care delivery in line with evidence-based practices
  • Act as a role model and take responsibility for the unit in the absence of management
  • Mentor new staff and participate in ongoing staff development through supervision and training
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the well-being of service users is at the forefront of care
  • Facilitate recovery-focused activities and support residents in achieving their personal goals
  • Handle medication and maintain accurate care records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements

  • Where a senior is employed within the transitional services they will be required to take part in the community on call rota to support residents out of hours
  • Undertake assessments of referrals and attend regular assessment and risk management training
  • Provide emotional support, encouragement, and practical assistance to residents with daily living activities
  • Work with all residents using a trauma informed approach using the 6 principles of trauma informed care
