Job Description

The laboratory provides a full laboratory service from wet tissue receipt, through technical processing and specialist reporting by a team of Consultant Histologists. Reporting to the Chief Medical Scientist and an integral part of the department’s team, the successful candidate will have practical experience in Cellular Pathology and the relevant histology knowledge.

Job Responsibility

Rotate through all the functions of a histopathology laboratory including cut–up/dissection, embedding, microtomy (manual and automatic) and routine and special stains

Requirements

  • Holder of Bachelor’s degree- At least 5 years’ experience as a Basic Grade Medical Scientist OR Holder of Master’s degree- At least 2 years’ experience as Senior Medical Scientist specifically in a working medical Histology laboratory
  • CORU registration (HCPC with CORU in process may also be considered)
  • 5 years’ experience specifically in a working medical Histology lab
  • Extensive experience of scientific work in the Histology laboratory, embedding, microtomy (manual and automatic) and routine and special stains, and specifically in Dissection & Cut-Up
