The Mechanical Project Engineer will provide technical knowledge, guidance and support to deliver projects, ensuring that all actions, activities and outputs underpin the integrity, expertise and competency of the company.
Job Responsibility:
Respond to client or colleague enquiries and take necessary actions to develop an effective engineering solution
Production of concept, scheme and detailed design documentation
Production of underpinning design calculations and analytical assessments
Production of engineering reports
Provision of relevant data, theory, formulae or standards to support design, manufacture, installation or equipment test
Self checking of all documentation prior to submitting for formal check and review
Liaise with internal and group company colleagues
Originate, prepare and deliver project documentation and engineering design deliverables
Provide technical oversight to sub-contract packages of work
Attend and contribute to engineering/project meetings
Attend and participate in sub-contract/client design reviews
Check and review engineering and project deliverables and outputs and provide constructive feedback
Provide bid support
Communicate effectively with all members
Be aware of Company business plan and to promote NSG to ensure continuity of business within the context of that plan
Contribute to the development of business and success of current projects by the internal referral and communication of appropriate information and intelligence
Recognise the potential impact of own actions for the Group, Company, clients and suppliers and act in appreciation of this at all times
Maintain effective working relationships across all Group, Company, Site and Function Heads
Promulgate and promote the Company's reputation, expertise and capability through attendance, contribution and submission to media articles, exhibitions, professional institutions, client meetings, external events, inward visits, and through professional bodies/colleagues etc.
Requirements:
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical discipline
Membership of appropriate technical/professional body
IOSH Managing Safely or formal H & S qualification - Relevant training will be provided if required
Understanding of the Project lifecycle and how projects are delivered within NSG
Basic understanding of the UK Nuclear Industry
Competent user of MS office
Ability to organise own work and effectively deliver under the guidance of a Project Manager
Ability to prepare and present reports, documentation and information in support of project delivery
Ability to interpret and evaluate technical data
Ability to communicate with a wide range of colleagues at all levels and with external stakeholders and contractors
Knowledge of ISO 9001 / 14001 & 45001
Nice to have:
Understanding of the radiological controls used within the type of projects delivered by NSG
Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information
Familiar with QSHEW operating procedures and requirements etc.
