Boeing’s Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) organization is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Facilities Engineering team. This role supports the design, development, procurement, and modification of mechanical systems and infrastructure in Puyallup, WA (Frederickson), while also supporting Auburn, WA. We are seeking dedicated professionals with a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of our facility systems and equipment. In this critical role, you will specialize in industrial building HVAC systems, steam generation and distribution, compressed air, vacuum systems, chilled water, domestic water, sewer and fire protection systems, chip collection, and building automation systems. You will work collaboratively with a team of skilled engineers, maintenance professionals and operations personnel to enhance and maintain our mechanical systems. Additionally, your expertise will be instrumental in developing long-term strategies aimed at ensuring the sustainability and efficiency of our systems.
Job Responsibility:
Develop moderately complex designs, final designs, and provide maintenance support for the mechanical portions of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds
Assist others to integrate the activities of multiple engineering disciplines, outside consultants and government agencies
Align designs with customer requirements, building codes and applicable regulations by applying knowledge of construction principles, practices and materials
Ensure accuracy of drawing archives by reviewing contractor redlines and identifying errors/changes to comply with regulatory requirements, facility standards and record retention requirements
Support construction processes by providing input on vendor selection
review contractor proposals
interface with government/regulatory agencies
monitor project progress and vendor/consultant performance
Prepare and present project information to ensure compliance with applicable construction documents and jurisdictional requirements to meet project objectives
Produce and/or procure detailed design documents using appropriate resources to produce project documents in accordance with project parameters
Coordinate and translate customer requirements into design options with documents and estimates
Identify appropriate materials, equipment, and services by applying engineering principles and methodology
Assist with updating design standards and site-specific operating procedures to establish common practices
With limited supervision, participate in infrastructure planning decision-making process
Plan, manage and execute projects in coordination with Project Managers and Maintenance teammates
Support analysis of current conditions and future requirements
gather data and work with customers in order to identify and assess alternatives and impacts
Collect customer requirements for incorporation into conceptual design
Participate in code research and the development of initial project schedule in order to establish project scope
Assist in the documentation and creation of contract scope
Interpret and analyze applicable regulations, standards, codes and ordinances with respect to project requirements
Offer alternatives to projects to ensure compliance
Provide support, as required, to secure permits
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
3+ years of experience with building mechanical systems (i.e. HVAC systems, steam generation and distribution, compressed air, vacuum systems, chilled water, domestic water, sewer and fire protection systems, chip collection, building automation systems, etc.)
3+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
Nice to have:
Professional Engineering (PE) License
3+ years of experience working in a facilities engineering role in a manufacturing or industrial environment
3+ years of experience working in a multi-project, multi-disciplinary organization
Experience frequently interacting and collaborating with inter-organizational personnel, including project managers, construction managers, maintenance staff, and contractors
Proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD and Revit software
