As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of mechanical building systems across a diverse portfolio of public and private-sector projects. You will remain hands-on technically while providing guidance, oversight, and mentorship within the mechanical group. This position offers a clear pathway toward senior technical leadership and long-term career progression.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the design of mechanical systems for complex building projects, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems
Prepare, review, and stamp mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical reports
Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
Provide technical direction and quality review support to junior engineers and designers
Manage mechanical project scope, schedules, and deliverables from concept through construction
Coordinate with internal disciplines, architects, contractors, and external stakeholders
Conduct site visits, surveys, and condition assessments as required
Provide construction-phase support, including shop drawing reviews and field reviews
Act as a key technical point of contact for clients and project partners
Participate in client meetings, design presentations, and proposal development
Support business development efforts through technical input and client relationship building
Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and designers
Contribute to internal standards, quality control processes, and continuous improvement initiatives
Participate in departmental planning and knowledge-sharing activities
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with P.Eng. designation (required)
7–10+ years of mechanical design experience within a consulting engineering environment
Strong expertise in building systems (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection)
Experience providing technical guidance or informal leadership to junior staff or project teams
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu
Solid understanding of applicable mechanical codes and standards
Strong communication, organizational, and client-facing skills
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site work
Nice to have:
Revit experience is an asset
A hands-on, detail-oriented approach with strong technical judgment
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively
Interest in long-term career growth within a consulting engineering environment
